Status Very common in Katy and Cypress Texas Notes A very commonly seen turtle around water with a pancake looking flat shell that can grow to large sizes (record size of 21.25” carapace).  Has a very elongated neck and can bury itself in the dirt on the bottom of bayous dissappearing before your eyes.
