About Us

As a reptile and amphibian enthusiast the majority of my free time is spent outdoors looking for animals to photograph.  This hobby has led me to multiple states and countries around the world in search of different species.  Unfortunately litter from the human species can be seen in just about every place that I have visited over the years as evidenced by the photos on the right. Years ago I began to collect and recycle as much litter as I could carry out each time I went out into a natural area.  Over time however it became obvious that one man trying to pick up after hundreds of people in my spare time was not making a significant difference. Rather than complain and hope somebody else took action I decided to do something about the problem.  I began to research the various options for litter control and found that the only plausible one was to organize a volunteer event.  However, I decided that even if I did manage to gather a group of people once or twice a year for a volunteer event it would not make much of a difference.  What about the rest of the year, was the litter just supposed to pile up until the next event and patiently wait to be collected? I created Litter Getters in January 2006 to remove litter from natural areas and create a more beautiful environment for the benefit of both wildlife and humans.  Litter Getters is here to offer an additional solution for those who have a problem with litter and want to do something about it.  In case you are wondering the fishing hook was removed from the alligators leg.
